“A small unit of Mujahideen raided the Kenyan base early last night, taking over the base, killing 8 Kuffar and injuring more than a dozen.”
Chimpreports had not confirmed the allegations at the time of posting this story, though AMISOM has in the past accused the militants of peddling lies and posturing as having an upper hand in the war.
The Al Shabaab further said they “dragged away two of the Kenyan soldiers as Prisoners of war and are now firmly in the custody of the Mujahideen.”
The group, which was recently pushed out of Mogadishu, said it had also seized 12 weapons, boxes of ammunition and communications equipment during the raid.
“And as the Jihad operations gather momentum, the Mujahideen are redefining borders, reshaping the landscape and reclaiming Muslim lands,” the statement further read.
AMISOM has in the past 12 months liberated strategic towns of Afgoye, Mogadishu among others from Al Shabaab.
