Sweden-based Mutumba Recalled For Cranes World Cup Qualifier

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) said on Tuesday evening that the local based players will start training on Friday under new coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic.

FUFA chief executive officer, Edgar Watson told reporters that the 37-man team invited will play an international friendly away to Libya on June 1.

Among the other players making a return to the team include; Ivan Bukenya who plies his trade in Iraq, defender Israel Emuge of Gor Mahia in Kenya and St. George first choice goalkeeper Robert Odongkara who has been in tremendous form in the CAF Champions League and now Confederation Cup.

And although Mamelodi Sundown’s goalkeeper Dennis Onyango is suspended for the game against Liberia after accumulating two yellow cards, he has been called to boost the team.

The Cranes, who lost their last group game 2-0 to Liberia, need to revive their hopes with two home wins against Liberia and Angola in June to stand a chance of advancing to the final qualifying round. Senegal tops the group, while lowly ranked Liberia is second.
