“We Have Replacements for Aucho, Jjuko,” Says Basena

Interim head coach Moses Basena taking players through drills

The crunch game between Uganda and Ghana is just a few days away and everything seems set to have the game as planned.

The Uganda Cranes host the Black stars of Ghana this Saturday at Mandela National stadium with a target of victory to keep the 2018 World Cup dream alive.

However, interim head coach Moses Basena will not have at his disposal two key players in Khalid Aucho and Murushid Jjuko who are out suspended.

The duo picked yellow cards in the game against Egypt and had their bookings accumulate meaning they are ruled out of the game against Ghana.

Basena is however confident that the rest of the squad can fully execute the work even without Aucho and Jjuko.

” There is no doubt that the two players Aucho and Jjuko are key pillars in our squad but I believe we have a broad squad and good players to fill their voids,” he said.

” Against Egypt, we did not have Tonny Mawejje but he is now back and that is a great boost. I’m confident that we shall get the result we want come Saturday,” Basena noted.

Uganda is in second position in group E with seven points, two behind Egypt while Ghana are third on five and Congo Brazzaville have just one point.

The cranes will play a friendly game against Madagascar this Wednesday at Startimes stadium before taking on Ghana on Saturday.
