Police Warns Bomb Scare Perpetrators “Red Top Brigade”

The Forum for Democratic Change party is largely expected to announce that they will not challenge the outcome of the Feb 18 presidential elections.

A press conference on the matter will be addressed by party president Rtd Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu today afternoon in Kampala.

Besigye has hinted on taking the matter to the Supreme Court. But his lawyers led by David Mpanga say they lacked time to prepare a petition for the Supreme Court.

“An aggrieved candidate has 10 days to prepare and lodge a presidential election petition. This is a very short time. Time runs out on Tuesday, capsule medications ” said Mpanga last week.

He added: “I do not think that Besigye has had a fair opportunity to prepare for a petition. This is very unfortunate for him and for the country.”

Mpanga, cost who was denied by police an opportunity to meet with Besigye at Kasangati, concluded: “I will not be acting for Besigye in a petition when he is under such a handicap.”
Following three bomb threat incidents where suspicious bags were abandoned in various parts of the Kampala city center, check police have come out with a strong warning to the youth group Red Top Brigade which claimed responsibly.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed that the group was behind the incidents.

“We were called by members of the public that bags suspected to contain bombs had been abandoned in various places of the city but our officers from the Bomb squad found only writings believed to be from the pressure group, no rx ” he told journalists.

The messages purportedly addressed to President Yoweri Museveni entailed a declaration of the results of the just concluded elections.

Onyango said that Police will not allow any body to overlook the duties of the Electoral commission by declaring another President apart from President Museveni who was announced winner.

One of the writings found in these bags and signed by the Red Top Activists, describes the Electoral Commission as a partisan organization that failed to declare their candidate Dr Kiiza Besigye
as a winner in the recently concluded Presidential elections.

The group also demanded the immediate release of Kizza Besigye from his current home confinement.
