In a bid to enhance Peace in Rwenzori region, Miss Tourism Rwenzori organized the local leaders and its people in a walk for peace and reconciliation in Kasese the heartland of Rwenzori Region.

Under the theme Sustainable Peace for Tourism, the walk was also graced by the reigning Miss Tourism Rwenzori Daphine Kajumba who maintained her stand about peace in the region.

“For Tourism to thrive, Peace  must prevail” she said.

Also in attendance was the police, Uganda Wildlife Authority, World Wide Fund (wwf), Rwenzori Mountaineering Services, Hotels, Tour operators, Game Rangers and a chain of Miss Tourism Queens.

“We had earlier wanted to have a Rwenzori Toursim Expo but were not sure if that would work well with the condition that previously prevailed in our region, so we decided to be part of the solution by organizing this walk. We pray it creates a foundation for lasting peace in this region; said Amumpaire Bismac the coordinator Miss tourism Rwenzori”

Aminadabo Muhindo, the Deputy RDC of Kasese said that one of the causes of insecurity are struggles without a clear direction.
