Africell’s Shs 80M Cash Boost Aids David Lutalo’s “Onsaanuula” Album Launch

David Lutalo on Friday evening (January 27) launched his top selling ‘Onsaanula’ song to thousands of his fans who filled up Hotel Africana. The prestigious HiPipo Music Awards winner for Artiste of the Year and Best Male Artiste in 2016 unveiled his latest Album titled “Onsaanuula” Album in front of a mammoth crowd.

Other artistes who performed at Lutalo’s album launch included Pallaso, Gravity Omutujju, Fille, Rema, Bobi Wine and a host of other top guns in the music industry.

“Onsaanuula” album Launch which was sponsored by Africell Uganda includes songs such as Onsaanuula, Kwasa, Sabulula, and Yamanyi among others.

Unlike other Ugandan artistes, David Lutalo has been holding his concerts in January for the past three consecutive years and have all been registered a success despite the criticism.

Lutalo was also handed Shs 5million by the head of traditional healers in Uganda, Mama Fiina on top of the Shs 80 million that he had bagged from Africell.

Lutalo will also hold other subsidiary shows in Mukono, Mbarara, Entebbe and Masaka as a countrywide album launch.

Africell’s Commercial Director Milad Khairallah said the brand will continue to sponsor leading artistes who are good models for the community. “Our 80m cash boost for Lutalo’s album launch is just the start of a long standing partnership. Africell promises to continue supporting leading artistes”

David Lutalo is also nominated in several HiPipo Music Awards 2017 categories including 'Artiste of the Year', 'Best Male Artiste', 'Best band Song' and 'Best Folk Song'.

 

VIDEO: Singer Sheebah Finally Releases “The Way” Video

Top Ugandan female singer, Sheebah Karungi has finally released the video of her latest hit single, “The Way”, whose audio hit the airwaves in December 2016.

Produced by popular Ugandan audio music producer, Ronnie Da Don, “The Way” is a dancehall love song in which the singer tells the man she is prospecting that she likes the way he smiles, walks and talks.

Sheebah premiered the video on Thursday night (January 26) at Laftaz Comedy Lounge, where fans turned up in big numbers to watch it for the first time.

The video was shot and directed by multi-award winning Ugandan music video director, Sasha Vybz of Savy Filmz.

Gravity Omutujju to take 2017 Concert to Bigger Venue

Popular Ugandan luga-flow rapper, Gravity Omutujju has revealed that he will be taking his 2017 music concert to a bigger venue.

During his performance at David Lutalo's "Onsanuula" concert on Friday (January 27, 2017), the Trouble Entertainment boss disclosed that he will be holding his 2017 concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala.

"Thank you for coming big numbers to support David Lutalo. On 8th October, 2017 I will be holding my concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval," Gravity said.

It will be remembered that Gravity Omutujju has for the past years been holding his concerts at Freedom City Mall in Namasuba, Kampala.

Lugogo Cricket Oval is one of the biggest concert venues in Kampala. The venue has hosted Ugandan singer Jose Chameleone's concerts as well as other international acts.

Revelers on Friday evening (January 27, 2017) flocked Hotel Africana – People's Space in huge numbers to attend popular Ugandan singer, David Lutalo's music concert dubbed "Onsanuula Concert".

The concert started at around 8:00PM with performances from a long lineup of artistes including Mathias Walukagga, Feffe Bussi, Ceaserous, Sheebah Karungi, Fred Ssebatta, Mesach Semakula, Fille and Lydia Jasmine among others.

David Lutalo stepped on stage at around 9:30PM and put up a wonderful live performance of his hit songs including "Kapapala", "Yeesu Ayi Mukama" and others amidst cheers from the crowd.

After performing a number of his songs, he took a break, leaving the stage for popular singers, Gravity Omutujju, Rema Namakula, Chris Evans, Pallaso and Bobi Wine, who thrilled the crowd with energetic performances.

Lutalo returned on stage at around 11:20PM and took his fans through his hit songs, "Ujuwe", "So Nice", "Manya" and "Pretty Pretty" as they sang and danced along.

The singer ended the show with his concert theme song, "Onsanuula", which the fans seemed to enjoy most.

Popular Ugandan singer, Eddy Kenzo has released the long awaited video of his latest song, "Addicted", a collabo with Jamaican singer, Alaine.

Eddy Kenzo teamed up with Alaine last year (2016) while on his US tour.

The audio of the song was produced by producer, Kuseim, the resident producer of Eddy Kenzo's Banq Records, while the video was directed by Patrick Elis.

Irene Ntale Hires Sister as Manager

Popular Ugandan female singer, Irene Ntale has hired her sister, Sandra Ntale as her manager after quitting Swangz Avenue.

Irene Ntale on Monday (January 23, 2017) announced via Facebook that she had quit Swangz Avenue to start a solo career.

In her announcement, Ntale noted that all those that wish to make bookings should do it through her sister.

“My bookings can be made through this contact +256-776-050406. Name is Sandra Ntale Byenkya,” Irene Ntale wrote.

It will be remembered that Irene Ntale’s former manager, Veronica recently stopped managing the singer and turned into a musician under the stage name, 'Vinka'.

Fast-rising Ugandan singer, Dokta Brain has finally released the video of his single titled, “Ntayaaye”.

“Ntayaaye” is a Zouk love song produced at Roy Studio by Producer Skills of Soundprints.

The video of the song which matches well with the song lyrics was shot and directed by Zyga Phix of Virtual Media.

Swangz Avenue Speaks Out on Irene Ntale’s Departure

Swangz Avenue has finally spoken out on singer, Irene Ntale’s departure from the music label.

Irene Ntale on Monday (January 23, 2017) announced that she had quit Swangz Avenue to start a solo career.

In a statement they have issued, the music label reveals that Ntale left in good terms and by mutual consent.

They further acknowledge Irene Ntale’s contribution to the label and describe her as “the most successful female artist in our 9 year history.”

In the statement, Swangz Avenue also wishes the singer all the best in her endeavours.

Cindy Sanyu Reveals Intentions to Hold Concert this Year

Popular Ugandan female singer, Cindy Sanyu has revealed intentions to a concert this year (2017).

This comes a few days after the ragga-dancehall singer released a massive club banger titled, “Run This City”.

When ChimpLyf contacted Cindy about her 2017 concert, this is what she had to say, “Yes, I will be holding a concert this year. I am working together with my team to see that we choose the best date and venue. We shall keep you informed.”

This will be Cindy Sanyu’s second concert as a solo artiste. The singer held her first concert dubbed “Amateeka Concert” on February 2, 2013 at Kati Kati Grounds in Kampala.

East Africa’s popular music duo singers, Radio and Weasel of the GoodLyfe Crew have released a new song titled, “Panadol”, a collabo with Legendary Ugandan singer, Jose Chameleone.

Radio and Weasel teamed up with Chameleone on the love song, where they praise a girl for being pain-relieving like the pain-killer, panadol.

The song was produced at GoodLyfe’s Magic Studios by popular producer, Eli Arkis.

Legendary Ugandan singer, Jose Chameleone has finally released the video of his hit song, “Sweet Banana”, whose audio hit the airwaves in December 2016.

This video release comes at a time when the Leone Island singer is preparing for his 2017 concert dubbed “Hit After Hit Concert”, which will be held at Lugogo Cricket Oval on Friday, May 19, 2017.

Chameleone’s “Sweet Banana”, which was produced by popular Ugandan audio music producer, Producer Kays, has become a huge club banger, receiving massive airplay on radio stations as well as night clubs and bars.

Its video was directed by Jim Resley.

While the fans are still enjoying her hit songs, “Musawo”, “Magic” and “Kano Kozze” among others, Swangz Avenue songstress, Winnie Nwagi has released a brand new single titled “Detergent”.

“Detergent” is a love ballad in which the singer describes her lover as a detergent that has washed away the stains on her heart.

The song will in all likelihood receive a warm reception from fans and get great airplay on local radio stations.

Irene Ntale Quits Swangz Avenue

Popular Ugandan female singer, Irene Ntale has quit Swangz Avenue, a record label that she has been signed to for over 5 years.

The “Sembera” hit maker in lengthy post on her Facebook page, revealed that she has departed from Swangz Avenue to start a solo music career.

In her post, the singer thanked the entire Swangz Avenue team for supporting her in her music career and assured her fans that she will continue to give them great music as she has always done.

This comes a few days after Irene Ntale's longtime manager, Veronica stopped managing the singer and turned into a musician under the stage name, 'Vinka'.

Second Judge for 2017 Club Music Video Awards Unveiled

Preparations for this year’s Club Music Video Awards (CMVAs) are in high gear, with the event scheduled to take place in March 2017.

As the date draws closer, the organizers have unveiled the second judge, to ensure transparency in the judging process of the awards.

It will be remembered that Angolan fashionista, events promoter and TV host, Karina Barbosa, had earlier this month been unveiled as the first judge of the 2017 CMVAs.

The second judge of the 2017 Club Music Video Awards is Tim Ekandjo, the Chief Human Capital & Corporate Affairs Officer of Mobile Telecommunications Company in Namibia. 

In his role, he also serves as the spokesperson of the company not making him the most popular face, but also one of the most influential personalities.

Tim holds a Diploma and Master’s degree in Human Resources Management as well as a Master’s in Business Leadership.

Tim is the current Founder and President of the Institute of People Management in Namibia, and serve on various boards in both public and private sector in Namibia. He has worked in over 7 different countries in Africa.

Tim started the Namibian Annual Music Awards project in 2011, and has ever since grown it to become the biggest and most successful music award ceremony in Africa, with live broadcast on Trace TV, SoundCity and live streams across the world reaching over 45 million people. Tim serves as the Executive Chairperson of the Namibian Annual Music Awards and oversees all aspects of the event.

Tim Ekandjo is one of the most powerful brands in Namibia, he has been awarded various accolades which includes but not limited to the international HR awards, and being voted most influential personality by various media houses. Tim has graced the cover of every powerful magazine in Namibia, and speaks at various events.

Mesach Semakula Announces Date for 2017 Concert

After taking some time without holding a concert, Ugandan singer Mesach Semakula is set to hold one this year (2017).

The Golden Band singer will hold his concert on Friday, March 3 at Hotel Africana – Nile Hall. The concert is dubbed “Totya Bigambo VIP Concert”.

"My 2017 concert is going to be about my music journey. Unlike other concerts that have been held at Hotel Africana, mine is going to be a VIP concert," Mesach Semakula told ChimpLyf.

The singer added that entrance fees to his VIP concert will be Shs 100,000 per head and Shs 1 million for a table of 8.

The “Totya Bigambo Concert” will have subsequent shows at Freedom City Mall on Saturday (March 4, 2017) and Hotel La Grande in Bwaise on Sunday (March 5, 2017). Entrance fee for the subsequent shows will be Shs 10,000.

Mesach Semakula last held in 2015. The concert dubbed “Omwana Wa Muteesa Concert” was held at Hotel Africana and it attracted thousands of revelers.

Popular Ugandan singing brothers, Maurice Kirya and Elvis Kirya aka Vampino thrilled fans at Amnesia on the night of Thursday January 19th.

The singers were premiering their first ever collabo, Nyongera, which has had a great reception from fans ever since it hit the airwaves.

At the premiere, the singers also performed their hit singles. Maurice Kirya performed his songs, "Blue Dress" and "Busaabala" among others, while Vampino moved the crowd as he performed "Linda" and his club banger, "Smart Wire".

The singers left the fans begging for more after their performances.

Eddy Kenzo in Collabo with Jamaican Singer, Alaine

Ugandan multi-award winning singer, Eddy Kenzo is yet to release a new song titled, "Addicted", a collabo with popular Jamaican female reggae and dancehall singer, Alaine.

Eddy Kenzo teamed up with Alaine last year (2016) while on his US tour.

The audio of the song was produced by AFRIMA award-winning producer, Kuseim, the resident producer of Eddy Kenzo's Banq Records, while the video  was directed by Patrick Elis.

Speaking to ChimpLyf, Eddy Kenzo's manager revealed that both the audio and video of the song will be released soon.

Eddy Kenzo becomes the second East African artiste to record a song with Alaine.

In 2013, the Jamaican diva teamed up with Kenyan singer, Wyre on the hit song, "Nakupenda Pia."

Congolese Musician, Koffi Olomide Coming to Uganda

Legendary Congolese musician, Antoine Christophe Agbepa Mumba aka Koffi Olomide will be returning to Uganda after a period of 3 years.

Koffi Olomide last performed in Uganda on April 25, 2014 at a concert held at Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala. The concert was organized by the Rotary Club to help raise funds for Uganda’s blood bank.

Unlike then when he was in town for a concert, Olomide will this time be coming to Kampala to attend city tycoon, Jack Pemba’s birthday party, which will be held at the Speke Resort Munyonyo on Friday, February 3, 2017.

Jack Pemba’s birthday party will be an invites only event, which according to sources; will be attended by only the tycoon’s close friends and relatives as well as a few city celebrities.

In a video clip which Koffi Olomidde recorded, the singer confirmed that he will be attending “his brother and friend”, Jack Pemba’s birthday party,

Kato Lubwama’s Biliv TV Hires UBC Staff

As Biliv Television, one of Lubaga South Member of Parliament, Hon. Kato Lubwama’s business ventures, is embarking on rebranding and gaining popularity among the masses, an insider has revealed to ChimpLyf that the TV station has started scouting for influential media personalities from all over the country.

The move is aimed at enabling the TV station to meet the competitive demand on the market.

Among recently recruited staff is Male Deogratius aka Omusawo Tintah from Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC)’s owned Star TV.

Omusawo Tintah has been hosting the ‘Enguliko’ show running from 12:00am to 2:00am every Sunday.  He is also the host of the Saturday Special Program on 90.8 Metro FM.

Tinta is expect to start work at Biliv TV in February 2017, where he will be hosting a program called, ‘B24 Dance Mix’ alongside Herbert Kiwalyanga aka Herbie Kay.

Besides Tintah, Biliv TV has also signed a contract with Metro FM’s Innocent Eriya Banda, who will be hosting a Television Talk show called, ‘Zaabiike’

Sources have revealed to this website that all the new employees being hired by BILIV TV are being promised an increase in their salary compared to that being offered by their former employers.

Top Ugandan female ragga-dancehall singer, Cindy Sanyu has released her first single in 2017. The song is titled “Run This City”.

The song release comes at a time when the fans are still enjoying Cindy’s 2016 hit songs, “Still Standing”, “Tempo Remix”, a collabo with Kenya’s Dufla Diligon and “Samo Dat” ft Namibia’s Oteya.

“Run This City” is a massive club banger, whose lyrics are in English, Luganda, Swahili and Jamaican Patois.
