Former Presidential Candidate Col Dr Kiiza Besigye has once again reiterated that he won the February 2016 presidential elections with a 52 percent edge, only for his victory to be hijacked by the Electoral Commission and the incumbent.

Dr Besigye as has been his call in the past months, appealed to people in Kabale district to support him to reclaim this victory using peaceful means.

Besigye told supporters in the south western district that outside Uganda, he is considered as the duly elected President of the country.

Besigye cited his recent invitation to the swearing in ceremony of Ghana’s new president Nana Akufo-Addo last Saturday.

“I want you to unite and stand firm to support your (people’s) government, taking actions which are lawful,” said Dr Besigye.

The four-time Presidential candidate was speaking Thursday at Nyeikunama Primary school in Muhanga Town Council, Kabale district.

At the rally, Besigye announced commencement of a nationwide tour which he said, is to appreciate the peoples support and their contributions towards his campaign in the 2016 elections “whose victory was robbed from him”

“My campaign was funded by the people. They came with anything they had, even 100shillings coins; goats and foodstuffs which were turned into cash. The NRM on the other hand splashed billions of tax payers’ money to bribe the voters,” he said.

Meanwhile, the FDC strongman asked locals to participate in the forthcoming LC1 elections to build the opposition party’s base from the ground.
