SC Villa 1-2 Bright Stars

Bright stars Football Club came from a goal down to defeat Sports Club Villa 2-1 in a preseason friendly game.

A goal in either half from new signing Remmex Kasule and returnee Akram Kakembo ensured Bright stars picked maximum points despite George Ssenkaba’s opener earlier on in the first half.

In the game played at Villa park on Wednesday, either team tested out their new signings.

SC Villa started the better team making several attempts and went ahead to take the lead through new signing George Ssenkaba from Kirinya Jinja SS.

With head coach Fred Kajjoba away due to engagement with the national team (Uganda Cranes), it was his assistant Paul Kiwanuka who took charge.

And at the stoke of halftime, the Kawempe based were awarded a penalty and new recruit from Hope Doves Remmex Kasule was able to convert from the spot kick to level matters.

Wasswa Bossa made changes upon restart with Ambrose Kirya, goalkeeper Sanon Mulabi, Nicholas Kasozi and Vitalis Tabu all coming on.

Tabu almost regained the lead for SC Villa from a free kick but defender Ashman Bajjampola made a goal line clearance to deny him.

On the other hand Fred Segujja, Farouq Banga and Kokas Opejo all came close.

It was defender Akram Kakembo who found the winner for the visitors deep into stoppage time.

The defender who was at Onduparaka FC last season jumped high to head home Asuman Bajjampola’s delivery from a free kick.

SC Villa began the 2016/17 season against Soana FC at Masaka Recreation ground on 12th Ssptember while Bright stars will host Vipers in Mwererwe on the same day.
