Iryn Namubiru Reportedly Arrested In Japan
The cause of the musician’s arrest by Japan Police remains unclear but the source said it is feared Namubiru was found in possession of illicit drugs.
Namubiru travelled to Japan last Thursday for a music concert at the Golden Holy Week.
It is said Namubiru of the Bilowoozo and Nkuweeki fame flew to the Asian country despite warnings that the promoter of the show identified as Promoter Kim Ueno “was not someone that could be trusted.”
Dj Michael and Hilderman chose not to travel.
Police publicist Judith Nabakooba could not confirm the arrest when reached on her mobile phone.
Interpol and International Relations Director Asan Kasingye was not readily available for comment.
The Ugandan embassy in Japan could not be reached on its official telephone line.
The incident comes against the backdrop of the arrest of former Ugandan minister Isaac Musumba, MP Michael Mawanda and a Kampala businessman in India over attempted extortion.
