The report stated that three candidates namely Associate Professor Philip Kwesiga, Associate Professor Anthony Mugisha and Professor Elisam Magara expressed interest in the position of the job.

“The Committee hereby submits the three names of candidates, as required by the terms of reference for further consideration by the Senate, with the overall weighted scores as follows: Associate Professor Philip Kwesiga—64%, Associate Professor Anthony Mugisha—63% and Professor Elisam Magara—55%,”highlighted the extract from the report.

The Chairperson of the Search Committee then continued with the submission of the report clearly stipulating two recommendations:

One was that the Senate may consider the two candidates who scored at least 60% (minimum pass mark), as relatively suitable candidates for the position.

The second was that Senate may allow more time to search for more competitive candidates to be considered for the position.

Based on the Committee report, Senate deliberated and adopted the second recommendation of the Committee and therefore agreed to re-advertise the job.
