“The residents are still facing off with the heavily armed anti-riot police. Residents started demonstrating at around 9pm yesterday following the arrest of Musa Sekigudde, the Chairman LC1 Mukiganda.”
Details indicate that Sekigudde was arrested on at night on orders of Nakawa Court where he was supposed to appear together with others but never did.
Meanwhile, the residents demand that if there are to be any arrests of their colleagues, it should be during the say when everyone is watching.
Government has ever since intervened in their matters to no avail.
The Chairman and other residents are accused of burning to ashes a car belonging to the area Mayor, Mamerito Mugerwa, in the first massive demonstration that rocked Kasokoso in November last year.
They are also blamed for sabotaging National Housing and Construction Company (NHC) from developing its land which they occupy.
At the start of the year, Kasokoso residents led by their mobiliser, Umaru Muyanja, appeared before the committee on physical infrastructure of Parliament investigating matters of land disputes in Wakiso district, but were kicked out for misbehaving.
Their matter thus remained unresolved up to this day.
